Ward & Company market report for Friday, October 10, 2008

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 128 to 8451 on 2.9  billion shares traded.  The NYSE Common Index closed down  105 to 5704.  103 billion dollars worth of NYSE securities traded today.

The DJIA was opened lower on moderate public institutional selling.  Stock prices roller coasted up and down into the close.

At the close 1035 stocks were up, 880 stocks were down, and 33 stocks unchanged for the day.

Important big block activity occurred in Gm and Ford.
