Ward & Company market report for Tuesday, March 09, 2010

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 12 points to 10,564 on 1.1 billion shares traded.  The NYSE Common Index closed up 1 to 7294.

The DJIA was opened higher on light public institutional buying. Stock prices advanced through midday, declining from their highs into the close.

At the close 1749 stocks were up, 1318 stocks were down, and 112 stocks were unchanged for the day.

Important big block activity occurred in: Morgan Stanley and AMR Corp.
